Multiple Teams · SB: 5-3 victory in game one, then fall short 3-2 to end season

The Arvada West Softball team won an exciting game one in the state tournament, 5-3 against Mountain Vista HS. The Eagles took an early 3-0 lead against the Cats, and two quick innings at the plate made things interesting… but the Cats would cut the lead to 3-2 in the 3rd. In the 5th inning, Mo Winters would lead off with a single and then Christaana Angelopulos blasted a 2-run shot to centerfield to put the Cats up by 1. Morgan Clausen would follow with a solo shot of her own to extend the lead to 5-3! That’s all the Wildcats needed and they would hold off Mountain Vista for the exciting victory!

In game two, the Cats faced a solid Legend HS team… Legend went ahead 2-0 in the 4th, but A-West responded and tied things up 2-2! Legend took the lead again in the 5th… and despite getting runners on in the 5th, 6th and 7th innings, the Wildcats weren’t able to push a run across and fell just short, losing 3-2 to end their season.

The Wildcats finished the year 19-4 overall, they were undefeated Jeffco League Champions, Regional Champions, finished in the Top 8 at the 5A State Tournament and had a win streak of 14 games dating back to Labor Day weekend!

We know things ended before we were ready, but we are so proud of this team and what they accomplished this season! Congrats to our 7 seniors for the incredible impact they had on the Wildcat softball program… we wish you all the best as you move on to the next chapter of your careers
