The Wildcats finished out the regular season portion of their schedule last night, as they hosted Dakota Ridge in the final home game of the season. Prior to the start of the game, we honored our 7 seniors in a Senior Game celebration! Rachael Black, Morgan Clausen, Brittany Dowell, Shea Mauser, Emma Novotny, Kailey Robb & Mo Winters recognized for their incredible contributions to our Wildcat softball program. They are a special group of young ladies, and we wouldn’t be where we are today without them!
When the game finally started, the Cats entered a bit of unfamiliar territory as of late, as Dakota Ridge jumped out to the early 1-0 lead. A-West would eventually answer back in the bottom of the 3rd, when singles from Mo Winters, Shelby Robb, Christaana Angelopulos and Morgan Clausen would manufacture two runs across the plate for A-West, which proved to be all they needed.
Dakota Ridge didn’t go down without a fight, getting runners on in the 5th & 6th innings, but the Cats managed to work out of those jams. In the top of the 7th inning, the Eagles got a runner to 2nd base with two outs…. a tricky, bloop flyball into leftfield and Christaana Angelopulos made a great play on the ball to end the game and secure the win for the Cats.
The Wildcats finished the regular season 16-3, and 7-0 in Jeffco League Play with the Jeffco League Champions to add to their accomplishments. We now wait until Monday for CHSAA to announce Regional bracket pairings. The top 8 teams are offered a chance to host a regional, and with Arvada West sitting at #2 right now it looks like we will be hosting a Regional bracket next Saturday, Oct 14th… times and location to be determined. Once things are released, we will be sure to share info asap 🙂
