Multiple Teams · SB: Cats slug their way to 21-3 win over #7 ranked Columbine


morgsyellGoing into tonight’s game at Columbine HS, the Cats had one goal in mind— score first and score often! And that is exactly what they did, as A-West pounded out 17 hits against a strong #7 Columbine team, in a 21-3 victory!

A-West got on the board in the top of the 1st inning, when a bases clearing single by Savannah Clausen put the Cats up 3-0. Older sister, Morgan, would follow up in the second inning when she cleared the bases on a screaming double to left field, to extend the Wildcats lead to 6-0! The Cats would go scoreless in the 3rd, and then a Christaana Angelopulos 2-run homerun in the top of the 4th would make it 8-0!

Shea Mauser led off the top of the 5th inning with a solo shot to right centerfield. Then 5 more hits and 5 runs would put the Cats up 14-0! Morgan Clausen then hit a 2-run shot to left to make it 16-0. But the Wildcats weren’t done yet! But the Wildcats weren’t done yet, as A-West would go on to score 5 more runs with two outs, including a 2-run homerun from Shelby Robb… the third homerun blasted in the inning!

A couple Wildcat defensive miscues in bottom of the 5th would allow Columbine to put 3 runs on the board, but with the third out of the inning A-West secured the 21-3 run-rule victory… their 8th of the season!
seniorsMo Winters was 3-for-3 with a pair of singles, a double, 2-RBI, and an impressive 4 runs scored! Kailey Robb was 3-for-4, with 3 singles and 3 runs scored. Christaana Angelopulos was 2-for-5 with a double, homerun, 4 RBI and 4 runs scored herself! Morgan Clausen was 2-for-3, with double, a homerun and 5 RBI! Gianna Haley was 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and 2 runs scored. Shelby Robb was 2-for-5 with a single, a homerun, 4 RBI and 2 runs scored.
Shea Mauser earned her 9th win of the season in the circle, scattering 8 singles over 5 innings, and striking out 5.

UP NEXT:
The Cats head to Pomona HS tomorrow afternoon, to take on the Panthers at 4:30pm. They will return home Friday to finish out the regular season in a 4:30 game against Dakota Ridge HS.
