Multiple Teams · Softball: Cats beat Jeffco rival, Chatfield 14-4!

The Cats collected their 2nd Jeffco win of the year last night, in a 14-4 home victory over Chatfield. The Chargers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Cats answered back in the bottom of the first and never looked back! Katie Russell came to the plate with bases loaded and two outs, and belted a towering double to right field– clearing the bases and giving A-West the 3-2 lead. The Cats would have a big 4th inning as Delaney Fletcher would lead off with a single, then Sara Mitchell belted a triple to right to score Fletcher. Morgan Clausen hit a sac fly to score Mitchell and extend the lead to 7-2. Later in the same inning, Gianna Haley would come up clutch with two outs, hitting a 2-RBI double to extend the lead, 9-2. The Cats would score two more runs in the 5th, to make it 11-2.
Chatfield would battle in the top of the 6th, putting two more runs on the board for the Chargers. A-West would answer back in the bottom of the 6th with singles from Shea Mauser & Kenzie Larrenaga and a catcher’s interference call on Morgan Winters would load the bases. Brittany Dowell hits an RBI single to put the Cats up 12-4, and then Delaney Fletcher would end the game with a huge double to right, scoring the two runs needed to secure the run rule victory!

The Wildcats collected 16 hits on the night! Shea Mauser had 3 hits; Gianna Haley, Sara Mitchell, Morgan Clausen, Brittany Dowell and Delaney Fletcher all had 2 hits a piece. Emma Novotny & Kenzie Larrenaga would score 6 of the 14 Wildcat runs between the two of them!

Shea Mauser only allowed 4 hits over 6 innings, and struck out 9 Chatfield hitters!

A-West travels down to Lakewood tomorrow at 4:30 to take on the Tigers!
