Cross Country

Welcome to Arvada West Cross Country!

Check out the Schedule tab for our 2017 Cross Country Schedule.

The first official day of Cross Country practice is Monday, August 14.  All runners are expected to be at practice on this date.  We will meet in the north parking lot of Arvada West under the trees – near the soccer fields at 3:00 p.m.  Once school begins, we meet right after school in room N123 (Coach Sundbye’s room).

Please make sure to bring water to practice each day.

All athletes need to fill out all athletic paperwork online NOW.  In addition to online registration you need to bring the physical form (signed by your Doctor), student passenger of private vehicle transportation form, insurance waiver, and the participation fee ($175) to Bruna Lanaghan in the main office at Arvada West PRIOR TO THE FIRST DAY OF PRACTICE.  In order to run Cross Country this fall, you must have a current physical. You can use your own Doctor for your physical, and it is valid for one year from the date it is signed by your physician.

You cannot attend practice until all registration requirements are completed.  Bruna will give you a form that says it is ok for you to run.  Fill out the required information on the back, and turn it in to Coach Moore on the first day of practice.  You will not be able to attend practice without this form!  Remember – before you compete in a meet, you must attend 5 practices.

The MANDATORY Cross Country Parent/Athlete Meeting will be held on Monday, August 21, at 6:00 p.m. in the Auditorium at Arvada West.  Please plan to attend, as important information will be distributed at this meeting regarding the cross country season.  All sports are required by CHSAA to hold this meeting.  Even if you are a returning athlete and have attended the meeting before, you and your parent must attend.

Notice – There is no school on Monday, September 4, for the Labor Day holiday. We have a meet on Saturday, September 2.  All cross country runners are expected to attend this meet.  We also have a meet on Thursday, September 7.  We will have practice on Monday, September 4, at 8:00 a.m.  We will meet in the north parking lot of Arvada West.  This practice is mandatory for varsity runners.  All runners should plan to attend this practice.

Trick-or-Treat Street

On Wednesday, October 25, Arvada West will hold a Trick-or-Treat Street for the children in our community.  Arvada West Cross Country will have a section of the hallway for the event.  We would like to encourage our team to dress up and volunteer.  This is an easy way for us to give back to the community in which we live.  The event will run from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m.  We have split the event into 3 shifts:

3:00 – 8:00 p.m. (includes set-up and tear-down)

3:00 – 5:30 p.m. (includes set-up)

5:30 – 8:00 p.m. (includes tear-down)

Please let Della know which shift your student will be able to attend.

Also, we would like to ask each cross country family to donate at least 5 pounds of Halloween candy for the event.  You can drop off with Coach Dalton at practice or in Room N137 – specify that it is for cross country.

Cat’s Crawl

All cross country runners are expected to run in the 14th Annual Cat’s Crawl on Saturday, August 19.  Family and friends are encouraged to attend too.  Run begins at 8:00 a.m. in the north parking lot of Arvada West.  Athletes should arrive at 7:15 a.m.  This run is put on by the Booster Club and is an easy fundraiser for cross country. Online registration is available now!  Make sure to note Cross Country as your team during online registration.

Our cross country banquet is Friday, November 3, at 6:00 p.m. in the Commons at Arvada West.  An invitation with final details will be sent at a later date.  Please RSVP number of attendees to
